The story of Thimble Bee's is a unique one. In 2001, Jennifer Taylor started a small sewing service for customers in the Waxhaw area. She would take on small projects such as pillows, table runners and simple window treatments. Her sleepy little sewing shop quickly grew into a hive "buzzing" with activity. Jennifer's love for window treatments became evident as more clients came to her with their various projects. She was approached by numerous interior designers and soon became known as a premier workroom servicing the Charlotte area. Her work can be found in show homes from Charlotte to New Jersey, and has been displayed in local and national magazines.
She decided to open Thimble Bee's Sewing School in order to share her love of sewing with our youth. Jennifer believes that the skill of sewing is one that can benefit children for a lifetime. Thimble Bee's Sewing School is an alternative to the 'dumb' entertainment our children get through text messaging, twittering, and television, by giving them the gift of self-confidence through personal achievment.
Conveniently located in Waxhaw just minutes away from Wesley Chapel and Marvin, Thimble Bee's is committed to helping youth learn the art of sewing in a friendly and positive environment. Children and teens will learn with the Kids Can Sew & Fashion Design curriculum.
It is a complete sewing curriculum that is nationally and internationally acclaimed. The curriculum features sewing patterns and directions designed specifically for children ages 6-12 and teens. The patterns and directions are filled with animated pictures and easy-to-read print that even the youngest reader will be able to follow. Each student purchases this pattern packet which will be their textbook. They will complete their textbook in about 10-12 months while making a new project each month. Students are responsible for fabric & notions.
In addition to our beginner classes, various classes are taught for students of all skill levels. Our classes are limited to six to eight students. Sewing machines and all tools are provided by Thimble Bee's Sewing School. We provide Brother sewing machines for our students to use.
Most classes are one hour fifteen minute sessions. Classes meet once a week, unless otherwise stated. Students must complete the Learning Your Machine Class before advancing into the other classes offered at Thimble Bee's Sewing School.
