What is Sew:Give:Back?

Free Event

Sew:Give:Back is a quarterly program offered by Thimble Bee's Sewing School + Fabric Boutique. The purpose of this program is to sew useful items for others in need. There is no fee for participating in a Sew:Give:Back event. It is a great way for the students of Thimble Bee's to get more sewing practice time while sharing of their time and talents.

Sew:Give:Back will be offered once a month and is usually limited to 8 participants on a first-come-first-signed-up basis. All students, past and present, are invited to participate. Keep an eye on the Thimble Bee's Sewing School Calendar for upcoming Sew::Give::Back sessions and contact Jennifer to sign up for a session.

The items we sew will be given to a specially selected organization in need of handmade items.

Let's sew and give to others!

Personal Care Kits for the Homeless Shelter

When: Saturday, April 5 from 2:00-5:00

This semester we're going to be making + assembling personal care kits for the Union County Homeless Shelter.  The personal care kits will include a toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo, shaving cream, and a razor; with each of those products having their own pocket for storage.  The kits will roll up much like the popular "crayon rolls" you've probably seen on Etsy. (pictured above)

The event is free.  You just need to bring your own fabric, see details below. Thimble Bee's will provide the terrycloth backing for each kit.  Feel free to bring your own machine, however, sewing machines and all sewing tools will be provided. Light refreshments will be served.  High School students can be provided with a certificate counting towards their volunteer hours for school.  Note cards will also be provided, so we can provide each resident with an encouraging word.

This event is open to anyone who is interested, even if you're not a student at Thimble Bee's, we would LOVE for you to join us!
